An apology.

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 17, 2008, 7:20 PM
  • Mood:
  • Listening to: our minds.
  • Reading: our hearts.
  • Watching: eachother grow.
To all of the living poet society members still watching, I would like to apologize on two main accounts.

The more obvious of the two is negligence. The main cause of that negligence, however, is the fact that people began not participating or being a part of this club. However (yes, again), the main reason people began losing interest in the LPS was me and my stipulations.

I am exceedingly sorry for the ideas I executed, without thinking entirely through, about required commenting and exclusivity. Both of these are against the grain of what we are about as LPS members, as writers, and as deviants.

Commenting needs to be encouraged, yes, but never forced or checked up on like homework. All of the previous restrictions, therefore, are officially repealed, and features will begin immediately next week again.

I heard recently about how the writing community on dA was beginning to deteriorate, and having once had some influence here, I felt obligated (and inspired)to come and pitch in. Suggestions are open via note (or comment) to the LPS, or to my personal account. More news will follow.

Writers: welcome back.

Wow, its been awhile. Anywho, I just took the time to go through all the contest entries and decide on winners. Yes, that is plural because I thought some were worth sharing besides the 1st place winner so I created 3 placings with a tie for second place.

1st Place goes to *pushitonme with
The toast ate her tongue and she tangoed with it.

2nd Place goes to: ~Chrylibis with
The War ate her opportunities and she deals with it.

AND to: ~SaCliliad with
The people ate her divinity and she conformed with it.

3rd Place goes to: ~pennylanechic with
The embers ate her despondency and she ignited with it.

Hey kids,

I'm running the show alone for now, but I think I'll be having at least one other person joining me soon. I wanted to start all you off with a little friendly, within the journal, competition. Fill in the spaces with the most creative combinations of these parts of speech as you can:

The ____ ate her ___ and she ____ with it.

Just post your entry here in the journal as a comment. Have fun!

Hey kids,

How are you all doing? Let me know if there are any suggestions, but there are some community-wide activities coming your way soon. :)

Well, Ric and William have not gotten back to me, so I am opening the floor for new HC applications. Say why you want to help the community, give a few ideas of how you want to get people moving in the club, etc.

:bulletred:The boards are still there for discussion, but honestly, no one's using them - why? Is there something you think we can do that would be interesting to you or people here? Note us! Please!

Hey kids, clearly the LPS community doesn't want to play comment whore and I don't want anyone feeling they need to be checked up on as expressed by several valued members.

:bulletred:Comments will no longer be required, but certainly pushed.

:bulletred:The boards will still be there for discussion, but honestly, no one's using them - why? Is there something you think we can do that would be interesting to you or people here? Note us! Please! We want to encourage intelligent happenings and are always open to suggestions as repeatedly emphasized.

:bulletred:Features will now be monthly, as no one was keeping up with them whilst they were around and it occured to me that 3 a week may be a lot to keep up with. 3 a month can be more leisurely for the members as well as the HC's, I think.

:bulletred: Please, please, note us or even my personal account [~DPSmistress] with suggestions, comments, anything you might need. I'm getting to the notes already here now, excuse the absence.

Know our requirements, if you feel you can meet them and are willing to participate actively in this community, send an email to LPSmistress@hotmail.com with your devname.

Requirements:

We encourage commenting intelligently on writing, espeically within our own community - help each other. 3 comments a month are the minimum suggested. I also want to clear up some misconceptions people seemed to be getting:

-You needn't continue meeting new people every month, there is no difference if you comment on the same people each time if you don't want to, but this is also the perfect oppurtunity to meet new people if you do want to, so it works to both advantages for both kinds of people.

-You may want to mention in your journals which piece needs the most help in case a fellow LPS member comes to your page so you can get help where you need/want it.

To discuss these features, we host a proboards LPS Lounge for just LPS members to join. We hope to influence creative discussion and the exchange of ideas! Get out there!
