Briefing from your new Head HC:
Hello all, now that our dear Michelle has officially left us, it is time we shed the laziness we've been procrastinating over and instigated our community into becoming something we can value and make use of. I drew up a new policy of the LPS because it is sorely needed. Please read it through carefully and consider its points as dutifully. Thank you, and welcome to the new Living Poet's Society. :)

Revisions:

Having let this new policy roll since wednesday, seeing the reactions of the community, taking the poll,  and discussing this return with fellow HC members, the policy will of course be revised.  I wanted to see how you would all react to this, and get you all into the helpful mode.

The new policy will be more like a compromise, though most people on the poll seemed to think 5 comments a month was fair or not enough.  Instead, we will require 3 comments a month; one must be within LPS writing, and the other two can be within or outside of our community.  I also want to clear up some misconceptions people seemed to be getting:

-You needn't continue meeting new people every month, there is no penalty or difference if you comment on the same people each time if you don't want to, but this is also the perfect oppurtunity to meet new people if you do want to, so it works to both advantages for both kinds of people.

-To confirm membership and the comments, just email me so I have your email address and more updates will be coming soon that way, so please email me quickly!  I will be posting a rather short memberlist in a few minutes.

-We have worked out current features to be had, and my own personal one will be coming out for the first time tomorrow.  However, anyone who is not a member will not have access to the discussion, as you will soon come to see, so please email me immediately if you are not one of 24 who has done so already!  Thanks.  =D

1. To be a member, you needn't link us anywhere, just be active. We will be keeping track of commentage and the like to make sure each person is active in the club.

2. Community - help each other.
- You must contribute at least 4 decently intelligent comments per month to someone else in the LPS, even randomly, that will assist them in improving their work. You must also give an intelligent comment on a literary work of someone not in the LPS each month. We hope this will make the LPS a greater contributor the community and also reach out to those unaware of the new kind of club we have become.

You may want to mention in your journals which piece needs the most help in case a fellow LPS member comes to your page so you can get help where you need/want it.

We are not just going to pretend being a community anymore, we are going to make it happen. I don't think 5 intelligent comments on poetry or prose over the span of a month is much to ask.

To approve this, you'll email me links to the 5 per month and I will keep you on the memberlist. If you don't, you will no longer receive any LPS updates outside of journals, which will no longer be the main course of updating or interaction among the club. I am going to make this a lot more personal with all 600 or so of you by keeping you updated by email, which you can readily respond to and I will respond back.

This policy will become effective this month of September, 2004.

3. Journals - will be posted only for the main ideas of the club, perhaps to link weekly features.

4. Favorites - will be abandoned. A club that has favorites is one weak with bias and [no pun intended] favoritism.

5. Deviations - will be updated weekly with different features; contests will be less often, but other activities will take their place that help expand creativity and the writing mind. There will be one member list, and one alone.  It will be updated every month with the changes. You may ignore it if you wish since it will be coming through mailboxes so often. It will only be there for the simple reason to keep members aware of where they stand and the like.

Deviations will also contain weekly features; such as classic poetry to discuss and debate over, or a certain poem that is a particular good example of a literary device or technique among an LPS member or possibly, even one extended among all deviantART writers.

This will be the last journal updating, and I will need all your emails
confirmed to the new LPS one at:

LPSmistress@hotmail.com

---EDIT---

I just wanted to note that in your email, you should include your devname so that I know who you are.

immediately with your opinions on these matters.  You may post here, especially if you wish not to reply by email, hence disbanding yourself from the group.  Please voice some opinions, but use discretion, as well. I want input, but I am rather headstrong about changing this group for the better, especially considering it has the most members out of anyone on DA for writers, and I want you all to at least give these ideas and changes a shot. I'm sure everyone is awfully comfortable with how the LPS was run and remained relatively stationary up until now, but I think change is something this place has been in need of for quite some time, and I plan to have the energy and willpower to do it.

Sincerely,
Your Head HC,
DPSmistress
